The College of Teacher Education of Ningbo University is a disciplinary college dedicated to teacher talent cultivation and research in educational and psychological sciences. Its predecessor can be traced back to Ningbo Normal University, founded in 1958. In 2008, the School of Teacher Education at Ningbo University was established on the basis of the original School of Education at Ningbo University. In the new era, the college adheres to the motto of "Upholding Virtue and Diligence, Learning and Teaching" and the educational philosophy of "Quality Improvement, Pursuing Excellence, Teacher Education Characteristics, and Coordinated Development", comprehensively promoting the construction of educational discipline brands and the cultivation of teacher education professionals.

The college currently has 116 full-time teachers, including 78 with doctoral degrees and more than 20 talents at or above the provincial and ministerial level, including young talents from the National Major Talent Project, experts with special government allowances from the State Council, members of the Higher Education Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, Qianjiang Scholars, Chief Expert of the Ma Project, Zhejiang Province Teaching Masters, Zhejiang Province Ten Thousand Talents Plan Youth Top notch Talents, Zhejiang East Scholars, Zhijiang Youth, Provincial 151 Talent Training Objects, Young and Middle aged Discipline Leaders of Provincial Universities, and Excellent Teachers of Provincial Universities.

The college has five departments and nine institutes. The five departments are: Primary Education Department, Early Childhood Education Department, Psychology Department, English Education Department, and Teacher Education Department. The primary education major is an advantage and characteristic major of ordinary universities in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five Year Plan period, and was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2019. The preschool education major is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and an advantageous major in universities in Ningbo City. It was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. The Applied Psychology major is a first-class undergraduate major in Zhejiang Province and a characteristic major in universities in Ningbo City. It was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major in 2021. The nine institutes are: Institute of Curriculum and Teaching Research, Institute of Basic Theory of Education, Institute of Higher Education Research, Institute of Preschool Education Research, Institute of Educational Leadership and Management, Institute of Educational Informatization, Institute of Psychology, Institute of Applied Psychology, and Institute of Mental Health. The college has two first level master's degree programs in education and psychology, as well as two professional master's degree programs in education and applied psychology. In 2024, it was approved as a doctoral degree program in education, and the college has successfully established a three-level training system for bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Education is a first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province during the 13th Five Year Plan period, and psychology is a key discipline in Ningbo City.

The college has achieved fruitful results in teaching, scientific research, and social services. Received one first prize and one second prize for national teaching achievements in 2014; Received 6 awards for outstanding scientific research achievements in higher education institutions from the 7th and 8th Ministry of Education, including 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 1 Youth Excellent Work Award; Received one third prize for outstanding achievements in the 5th National Education Science Awards; Received 2 awards for outstanding achievements in the 6th National Education Science Research, including 1 first prize (achieving a breakthrough of zero first prize for this award at Ningbo University) and 1 second prize; In the past 5 years, we have won 16 Zhejiang Provincial Excellent Achievement Awards in Philosophy and Social Sciences, including 2 first prizes and 4 second prizes. Approved as a major research project for philosophy and social sciences by the Ministry of Education in 2023, our school has achieved a zero breakthrough in this project! The college has been approved for 37 national level scientific research projects and 38 provincial-level scientific research projects. Published 57 papers in SSCI journals. Published 196 papers in CSSCI journals, including 27 in Educational Research and Journal of Psychology. In the "Soft Science" ranking of the best disciplines in China in 2022, education degrees ranked 17th and psychology ranked 26th. The college actively participates in social services, formulates medium and long-term plans for the development of basic education in Ningbo, and participates in legislative research on preschool education in Ningbo, playing a good role as a think tank.

The college attaches great importance to the quality of undergraduate and graduate education, especially the cultivation of students' abilities, and creates a good environment for their growth. Students have achieved excellent results in national and provincial subject competitions, and their employment and examination rates have repeatedly reached new highs.
